Exploring your favorite ski area in the summer can be a whole new experience. I have an entirely new respect for some of the slopes I consider easy, groomed cruises after trying to bike down them, or stand on the trail's edge to hit a golf ball across a gully.

Chances are if you are a ski pass holder, you get a break on summer activities. Seek them out and make the most of them.

Do you know what benefits your ski pass offers when the slopes are green oare brown?

Season pass sales often do list off-peak benefits at your favorite ski areas. But when you're signing up for that ski pass, your brain is geared for snow. What you can do as a pass holder in summer and early fall often goes unnoticed. You may have forget about any summer offers long before the snow melted.

What are Some Typical Pass Perks?

Whatever activities your mountain offers for summer just might come with a pass holder rate.

On mountain activities like mountain biking, chairlift rides, zip lines, mountain coasters or slides, paddle boarding and kayaking, rope courses and golf courses and even disc golf courses on property might give you a break.

The resort properties may feature dining and lodging deals, pool passes, discounts on event space rentals or summer classes.

How do you Find Out What You're Eligible For?

Unlike lift pass perks, the summer values for pass holders vary widely mountain to mountain. This is even true across participating areas of some of the larger multi-mountain passes. New incentives may be added mid-summer and not listed on your original pass confirmation message.

Take these 3 steps:

1) Log in to your account to look for current offers.

2) Check the website where you bought your pass for current pass terms.

3) Call, chat or email with customer service at the resort you'd like to visit during non-peak season. There might be a new offer that hasn't been loaded to your account or posted online yet.

The Mountains Are Calling - Go Enjoy Them

Show your home resort a little love in the off season. If they are trying to run a year-round operation, they'd love your support.

Check out those runs you may know by heart in winter. You'll gain a whole new appreciation for them when you can't rely on skis to get around.
